Yes you can watch movies too, just like you can listen while in a room with other sounds going on. But I'm not sure if listening DMSI and music from the same speaker/headphones/soundsource will affect the emittance of the sub sounds if that's what you're asking.
Don't play it from the same source. Otherwise - as long you can clearly hear the masking track - you're good to go (for ultrasonic, I guess it'd be best to calibrate the volume beforehand, but it's at such a high frequency range that other sounds should not cover it anyhow).
So, f.in., you could be watching TV or playing a game, and playing the sub on your phone, or suchlike.
